Poulpeasty Active Retirement has thirty active members, male and female. Our meetings take place twice a month, occasionally we have guest speakers on different topics, ranging from Healthy Eating to talks from local based businesses, for example Uncle Aiden’s Wheaten Meal. We also have bingo occasionally,
We always have delicious tea and treats provided by a local lady who also volunteers with the group.

We go on interesting daytrips to various locations and we have good times out and about.

In 2012, a number of members participated in computer classes supported by the VEC and facilitated by the local national school who gave us access to their computer bank. We are in the process of compiling a social history on the members of the group, based on their memories. We participated in an oral history project with Wexford Library and some of our members oral histories have been on radio.

We are a vibrant group who enjoy meeting up for a chat, lovely teas, and a bit of craic.

We are in existence since 2008, and as a group the members are very loyal and supportive to both the group and individually. We hope to publish our social history next May as part of the Bealtaine Festival. There is a great sense of companionship in the group and we enjoy our meetings and keeping in contact with each other.
