Training for PROs of Older People's Organisations

06 Jul 12

Much of the portrayal of older people in the media tends to enforce stereotypes of dependancy and reinforces ageist attitudes.

Older people's organisations don't tend to get the positive press that they deserve. If you're organisation is doing good work then you need to tell everyone about it, this will help with fundraising, getting volunteers involved and with combatting negative stereotypes of getting older.

We also need to use the media to highlight issues that affect older people, lobby for change and promote solidarity between the generation

This training is specifically designed for the PROs of older people’s organisations in Co. Wexford and covers writing press releases, doing radio interviews and examining how older people are portrayed in the media.

Participants will learn how to communicate with the general public on behalf of their organisations, promote their activities and also how to Get Vocal over the issues that affect older people.

This training will be delivered over two Tuesday mornings:
Part 1 - Tuesday, October 16th, 2012, from 10am – 1pm
and
Part 2 - Tuesday, October 23rd 2012, from 10am – 1pm
